Privacy Policy

Kanji Compass ("we", "our", "the service") respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights. If anything here is unclear, email info@bantex.jp.

1. What we collect

Kanji Compass is designed to collect as little personal data as possible. We store the following:

• Your birthday — used locally in your browser to calculate your Nine Star Ki direction. It never leaves your device and is not sent to our servers.
• Pro purchase flag — stored in your browser's localStorage after a successful Stripe checkout. It contains a boolean and your Stripe Checkout Session ID (a non-identifying random string).
• Favorites — kanji you save are stored in your browser's localStorage. Never transmitted.
• Anonymous visit counters — we count total page visits via a third-party anonymous counter (Abacus, abacus.jasoncameron.dev). No IP, no user-agent, no identifier is sent — only a generic "hit" signal.
• Analytics events (optional) — if Google Analytics 4 is enabled, anonymized event data (page views, source tags like ?from=tiktok) is sent to Google with IP anonymization enabled.

We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or location unless you voluntarily provide them when contacting support.

2. Payment data

All payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. Your card number is entered directly into Stripe's secure form and never touches our servers. We only receive a payment confirmation and a Checkout Session ID. Stripe's privacy practices are governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.

3. Cookies and local storage

We do not use tracking cookies. We use your browser's localStorage only to remember:

• Your Pro unlock status (kc_pro)
• Your favorite kanji (kc_favorites)
• Session count for display purposes (kc_sessions)
• Your restore token after purchase (kc_restore_token) — used so you can unlock Pro on another device by pasting a restore URL

You can clear all of these at any time by clearing your browser's site data for kanjicompass.bantex.jp.

4. Third-party services

The following services may receive limited data when you use Kanji Compass:

• Stripe — payment processing when you purchase Pro
• Abacus (jasoncameron.dev) — anonymous hit counting
• Google Analytics 4 — anonymized analytics (if enabled)
• Render.com — static site hosting (standard web server logs may be kept briefly for security)
• Google Fonts — font delivery; Google may log font requests
• Pinterest — if you arrive via a Pinterest pin, Pinterest may track the referral independently under their own privacy policy

5. Your rights

Because we do not collect personally identifiable information on our servers, there is no personal profile to delete. Clearing your browser's site data for kanjicompass.bantex.jp removes everything we store about you.

For payment records held by Stripe, contact info@bantex.jp and we will assist in retrieving or requesting deletion of your Stripe customer record where permitted by law.

6. Children

Kanji Compass is intended for users aged 13 and older. It is an entertainment product based on traditional Feng Shui and Nine Star Ki philosophy — it is not professional advice. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced on the app's home screen.
